Incoming Exchange from China
Margie Bowyer was Exchange Director for an incoming exchange from
China in February, 2006. Six educators, accompanied by a translator, arrived
on February 15. Their agenda featured several opportunities to learn about education
in the United States. Here is a summary of their visit, with some pictures from
the visit on the left:
- Wednesday--Welcome dinner, hosted by Huw and Marie Williams.
- Thursday--Visit superintendant of Cherokee County School System, for description
of how a kingergarten-to-twelfth grade system functions, followed by visits
to Cherokee County High School and the Sequoyah Library. There was then some
spare time, which several of the Ambassadors wanted to spend shopping. This
was then followed by a visit to a Canton city council meeting, including an
exchange of gifts with the mayor of Canton. That evening, the Logans hosted
a dinner.
- Friday--Visit Appalachian Technical College, followed by tours of Home Depot
and Kroger. That evening, Charlotte Hale hosted a dinner.
- Saturday--Tours of Georgia Aquarium and CNN, followed by a narrated tour
of downtown Atlanta. That evening, JoAnn Liefeste hosted a farewell dinner.
- Sunday--departure
We believe the Ambassadors went on to their next stop tired but pleased with
their time in Georgia.
